FIELD NOTES | Visiting Heidelberg’s University Medical Center with the ghost of Karl Jaspers

March 2024  |  Daniel J. Gerstle

While on the International Center for Journalists Fellowship for Health Innovation Journalism, I had a chance to dive into Heidelberg University’s School of Medicine, visit philosopher Karl Jasper’s stomping grounds by the old Psychology Department, and push long nights in the historic library.

There is so much to share about what these three institutions teach humanity, especially about how we can act morally in the toughest challenges. I will upload ad share a fuller photo essay and a few literary essays on the subject here soon. Beyond this, Happy Easter and have a meaningful Ramadan and Purim!
