VIDEO | Oxfam: Filming Violence
December 2010 | Humanitarian Bazaar
Film by Humanitarian Bazaar (aka HELO Media) in cooperation with Oxfam International and Drewstone Productions; it was released as the behind-the-scenes vignette on the DVD for Shooting Poverty at The Frontline Club.
In 2010, Oxfam International and Drewstone’s partner project, Shootingpoverty.org came to New York City. Featuring a global competition, Shootingpoverty.org, invited the three finalists to present their films at the Tribeca theater. While April 6th (Chandam Netraj’s film about war widows in Assam, India) and Grosso Calibre (Directors Guilherme Arruda, Ludmila Curi, Thiago Vieira, about hip hop musicians caught in the crossfire of gang violence in the favelas of Rio, Brazil) dazzled audiences, the award went to Bang for Your Buck, about arms markets in Burundi, directed by Seth Chase and Brice Blondel.
Oxfam then invited Humanitarian Bazaar (then known as HELO Magazine) to produce the meta-nonfiction behind the scenes vignette, Filming Violence. The four films were pressed to DVD and distributed globally.
