FOCUS  |  LEARNING SOMALI MUSIC & POETRY CULTURE

Join HB and Somali hiphop collective Waayaha Cusub, to learn how Somali oral history transformed over hundreds of years from ancestry and prayer into poetry and music. We look back at the creation of the Waaberi music label and collective which dominated Somali music for decades, then at global icon K’naan (who performed with HB in concert in New York), hiphop-against-violence group Waayaha Cusub (HB partners in the Mogadishu Music Festival and other projects), and more recent singers and ‘oud players.
